Year-end Update

June 5, 2020

At what would have been the end of our traditional school year, we want to once again thank CUSD students, families, and staff for your resilience, perseverance, and support over the past months. This is also an appropriate time to update you on our plans and preparations for the 2020-2021 school year. Based on conversations with the Stanislaus County Public Health Officer and other school district superintendents, we are cautiously optimistic that CUSD will open with all students at school on August 12, with numerous safety measures in place. These measures would include social distancing as possible, frequent disinfecting of surfaces, handwashing/hand-sanitizing protocols, face masks if recommended, and much more. If circumstances do not allow us to open with all students, we are also planning and preparing for either fully remote learning, or a combination of in-person and distance learning. To support families in making educational decisions they believe are in their children's best interests, CUSD will offer an independent learning option if schools are open. CUSD Custom Classroom K-12 will provide online access to grade-level curriculum, with learning supported by credentialed CUSD teachers. To help us ensure adequate resources for this program, please PRE-REGISTER HERE if you do not plan to send your child(ren) to school beginning August 12, 2020. We hope to see our students and staff back at school next year. Until then, we wish you a safe and restful summer. Scott Siegel, Ed.D. Superintendent
