The Ceres Unified School District has formed working partnerships with local businesses and community agencies over the past decade that serve the families and children of the Ceres community.
The Ceres Community Collaborative is a group of representative agencies and community members that are committed to meeting the needs of families in Ceres and the surrounding community. Members are dedicated to coordinating resources that empower and support individuals and families to learn and grow. Formal meetings occur quarterly. Meeting dates for the 2011-2012 year: September 28, 2011, November 16, 2011, February 8, 2012, and April 18, 2012. Meetings are scheduled from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Meeting location is the Ceres Community Center, located at 2701 Fourth Street in Ceres.
The Ceres Community Collaborative was formed in 1994 as a planning group for a Healthy Start project. The Collaborative has grown in size and importance over the past 14 years. Currently, over 30 partner organizations, including faith-based organizations, local governmental agencies, independent youth-oriented organizations, Institutions of Higher Education, and grant-funded agencies are involved.
The Ceres Community Collaborative has successfully identified priorities, developed plans, mobilized public and private resources and integrated services that support children and families and enhance community well being.
The Ceres Community Collaborative partners continue to address community issues and form working partnerships to develop solutions to the needs of our students and families.
For information on becoming a partnering agency, contact Julie Lynn Martin, 209-556-1555.
School to Business Partnerships
During the 2007-2008 school year, CUSD schools have developed formal partnerships with local businesses, resulting in support by the business of school site activities and events. Businesses have contributed staff time, materials, resources, and other in-kind contributions to each school. Each school site promotes the business at school events and activities as a sponsor. If you are a business interested in supporting a school in Ceres, contact Jay Simmonds, Assistant Superintendent Student Support Services at 209-556-1550, for more information.
Mentors and Volunteers are Needed for CUSD Programs
The After School Education and Enrichment (ASES) program is seeking volunteers to participate in fun after school activities with elementary and junior high school students. For more information, download the Volunteer Flyer, today!
Project YES, is seeking mentors for at-risk youth ages 17 to 21 to provide encouragement and support to these students in education and career areas. Click here to download a Mentor Flyer.
